Powerful questions are the open questions that have the most effect on a particular student.
Open questions based on the student's values give the most powerful effect.
Open questions are best
Open questions reflect your active listening and an understanding of the student’s perspective. The most powerful questions are open questions, such as "What, "Who", "How", "When" because they open up for conversations that are deep and honest.
Open-ended questions create greater clarity, possibility or new learning.
Knowing what their values are, i.e. what's important to them, will enable students to make choices that are right for them. Knowing a student's values will enable you to ask more powerful questions.
